Leo Carrillo, Housing Specialist for Clearinghouse CDFI’s nonprofit partner Affordable Housing Clearinghouse, is definitely a “Tough Mudder” with a big heart!
Leo recently participated in (and smashed) the Temecula Tough Mudder – a punishing 12 mile obstacle course which promotes friendship over finishing rank or completion time. The Tough Mudder event benefited The Wounded Warrior Project, a nonprofit benefiting veterans and service members who incurred a physical or mental injury, illness, or wound, co-incident to their military service on or after September 11, 2001 and their families. Leo also somehow found the time to volunteer for LA on Cloud 9 at MacArthur Park in Los Angeles, helping serve meals to the homeless.
Each month, LA on Cloud 9 holds community picnics where guests are fed and given a change of clothes and food for their pets. Food, pet food and clothes are donated, & leftovers are distributed throughout the month by the street team soldiers as care packages for homeless individuals.
