Clearinghouse CDFI’s 2019 ‘B’ BOLD Internship Award Program is officially a wrap! Here’s what Rose had to say as she reflected on her experience this summer:
Q: What did your typical work day at Clearinghouse CDFI entail?
Rose: A typical workday at CCDFI for me looked like:
- Turning on desktop & checking emails
- Research
- Projects
- Paperwork
- Meetings
- Lunch
- Paperwork
- Projects
- Clean desk & leave
Q: Discuss the strong points of your internship experience.
Rose: I learned a lot about CCDFI and the different departments within the company. I feel better prepared for the SATs and college, met a lot of nice people, & experienced what an everyday job feels/looks like.
Q: If you had any aspect of your internship to do over, what changes would you make?
Rose: I would want to work on time management so that we could have planned B Day on time.
Q: What was the most challenging aspect of your internship and why?
Rose: I found the workload to be the most challenging aspect of my internship due to lack of time management.
Q: What was your favorite experience?
Rose: My favorite experience was planning for B Day and making flyers for the volunteer event.
Q: In your own words, explain what this experience meant to you.
Rose: This experience helped me learn different ways to research and communicate with people. The fact that people liked my flyer made me feel good about my work.
Q: What are your plans for the next two years?
Rose: My plans for the next 2 years are to get a part time job, study for/take the SAT & ACT, get an engineering scholarship, hopefully go to China to see my aunt, and get into a good engineering & science college.
Q: What would you say to the next student(s) selected to intern with Clearinghouse CDFI?
Rose: I would tell them to BREATHE. It’s okay to be scared or nervous the first few days, but everything just seems to fall into place. I would also tell them to learn as much as they can and have fun.
Q: Do you have any final words to share with Clearinghouse CDFI staff?
Rose: I loved being a part of CCDFI, even if it was only for 2 months. I learned a lot, had fun, and loved getting to meet you all.
