Clearinghouse CDFI (CCDFI) is supporting the purchase of a single-family home for developmentally disabled individuals. With a $740,000 CCDFI loan, Bay Area Housing Corporation (BAHC) acquired and rehabilitated a residence that provides a service-enriched living environment in a home-like setting to low-income, hearing-impaired adults.
According to a report by the California Council on Developmental Disabilities, the state of California is falling short by nearly 100,000 units to meet the housing needs of low-income developmentally disabled individuals. BAHC is taking action to address this issue in the Bay Area by providing affordable living spaces. In Newark, California, BAHC is using financing from CCDFI to purchase and renovate a single-family home to provide Enhanced Behavioral Support to four residents who require 24-hour-non-medical care in a home-like environment. The home will be staffed and equipped with delayed egress devices and secured perimeters to meet the individual needs of the residents.
