The California Historical Society

The California Historical Society (CHS) of San Francisco, CA is a nonprofit organization that aims to “inspire and empower people to make California’s richly diverse past a meaningful part of their contemporary lives.” CHS achieves this mission by providing invaluable learning experiences, opportunities, and resources.

Clearinghouse CDFI provided $6,440,000 in financing for CHS as they embark on their new vision to achieve a broader outreach throughout the state of California in promoting their services and programs.

This financing will allow CHS to support its new vision by promoting diversity and inclusion in leadership with a focus on providing technical assistance, training, and resources to hundreds of unstaffed and understaffed cultural and local history organizations throughout the state. CHS will partner with local colleges and universities while delivering new learning opportunities to museums, historical societies, cultural centers, libraries, and K-12 students.
